Montreal, QC (March 4, 2009) – Pierre Roussil, owner of SpiderWebNetworks Inc. and full time student at Concordia University, has been named the Quebec Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion by national charitable organization, Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship, ACE, and proud program supporter, CIBC.
Since 2008, Pierre, a Commerce student, has owned and operated SpiderWebnetworks Inc., a technology based business that builds wireless mesh networks which allows you to connect to the Internet. A mesh network can cover a larger area compared to a traditional ‘wi-fi’ system. The advantage of mesh networks do not require a significant investment in technological infrastructure due to the invisible wires that lay across the air at virtually no cost.
Operating SpiderWebNetworks Inc. has provided Pierre with the opportunity to: · Provide 7000 users with his networking system in hotels & apartment buildings · Install over 80 access points · Modify his existing hardware to extend the range of antennas by 10 times
“I am exhilarated about being the ACE Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion for the Province of Quebec,” says Pierre. “I think ACE is doing an essential work by building bridges between students and business leaders. I look forward to a continuous and sustained involvement with ACE, and to network with like-minded entrepreneurs and share my enthusiasm for business and technology.” The regional round of competition will take place at the 2009 ACE Regional Exposition in Toronto, Ontario on March 13, 2009. Provincial Champions will each present their business to a live panel of business professionals who will decide the two Regional Champions, who will each receive a $1,000 cash prize and move on to the final round of competition taking place at the 2009 ACE National Exposition in Toronto on May 6th, 2009. The National Champion will be named and will receive a $10,000 cash prize and represent Canada at the international level of competition, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, if he or she qualifies. “Given the changing economy student entrepreneurs are being forced to take on new challenges to ensure their businesses thrive” says Amy Harder, President of ACE. “ACE provides an experience that strengthens and supports student development to create a more sustainable and enterprising Canada.” For more information about the Student Entrepreneur Competition taking place regionally and nationally in 2009 please visit www.aceexpos.ca.
