Athabasca University student named 2010 Student Entrepreneur Alberta Champion
02.09.2010

Calgary, AB (Wednesday, February 10, 2010) - Teang Tang, owner of Mingle Event Management and full time student at Athabasca University, has been named the 2010 Student Entrepreneur Alberta Champion by national charitable organization, Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) and proud program supporter, CIBC.

Since 2008, Teang has owned and operated Mingle Event Management, a company specializing in sustainable event management solutions. Mingle works directly with clients to identify "Green" goals at the beginning of the process. After each event, clients receive a sustainability audit summarizing the environmental impact of their event and evaluating how much energy and resources they've saved.

Teang’s largest business accomplishments to date include; doubling revenue on a yearly basis, growing her client base to over 800 and creating a full time position for herself as well as hiring up to 70 people in project based/contract positions.

“I am very honored to represent Alberta in the 2010 Student Entrepreneur Competition”, explains Teang Tang, owner of Mingle Event Management. “By winning this award, Mingle will be able to expand the reach of our business and educate Canadians on the value of preserving our environment.”

As a provincial champion, Teang Tang will now move on to represent Alberta in the regional round of competition taking place at the 2010 ACE Regional Exposition in Calgary on March 5, 2010. Provincial Champions will each present their business to a panel of entrepreneurs and industry professionals who will determine two Regional Champions, who will each receive a $1,000 cash prize and move on to the final round of competition at the 2010 ACE National Exposition in Calgary on May 12th, 2010. The National Champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and represent Canada at the international level of competition, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards.

“With today’s ever changing economic situation, ACE is proud to continue its work developing leaders, creating connections and impacting communities, explains President of ACE, Amy Harder. Our 2010 Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champions will no doubt contribute meaningfully to the Canadian economy for years to come.”
