U of T student named 2010 Student Entrepreneur Ontario Champion
02.17.2010

Toronto, ON (Wednesday, February 17, 2010) - Vincent Cheung, owner of Shape Collage Inc. and full time PhD student at the University of Toronto, has been named one of three 2010 Student Entrepreneur Ontario Champions by national charitable organization, Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) and proud program supporter, CIBC.

Since last year, Vincent has owned and operated Shape Collage Inc.,(www.shapecollage.com) a digital media software company with an automatic photo collage making software program. This product takes hundreds of your photos and in just seconds, automatically arranges them into a photo collage in any shape, such as a heart, word, or logo. The program is used by everyone from grandparents to grandchildren in over 200 countries.

Vincent’s largest business accomplishment to date include: having over one million downloads of the Shape Collage software, being approached by the largest online photo printing company in Europe (PhotoBox) to sign a technology license agreement, as well as, being cash flow positive since day one and earning enough to pay himself a full salary.

"I am honoured to receive this recognition so early in my entrepreneurial career,” explains Shape Collage Owner, Vincent Cheung. “This is a great validation for all that I have learnt over the past year and winning this award will provide invaluable exposure for Shape Collage in the Canadian market."

As a provincial champion, Vincent will now move on to represent Ontario in the regional round of competition taking place at the 2010 ACE Regional Exposition in Toronto on March 8, 2010. Provincial Champions will each present their business to a panel of entrepreneurs and industry professionals who will determine two Regional Champions, who will each receive a $1,000 cash prize and move on to the final round of competition at the 2010 ACE National Exposition in Calgary on May 12, 2010. The National Champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and represent Canada at the international level of competition, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards.

“With today’s ever changing economic situation, ACE is proud to continue its work developing leaders, creating connections and impacting communities", explains President of ACE, Amy Harder    . "Our 2010 Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champions will no doubt contribute meaningfully to the Canadian economy for years to come.”
