Toronto, ON (Monday, March 8, 2010) – The 2010 Central Canada Regional Champions of the “Students In Free Enterprise” (SIFE) program and the Student Entrepreneur Program were announced today - Monday, March 8th in Toronto at the ACE Regional Exposition.
Post secondary SIFE teams competed in three separate challenges; here are the results for each challenge:
HSBC SIFE Financial Education Challenge League A Regional Second Runner-Up – St. Lawrence College Regional Runner-Up – Niagara College Regional Champion – Ryerson University
League B Regional Second Runner-Up – Bishop's University Regional Runner-Up – Wilfrid Laurier University Regional Champion – George Brown College
TD SIFE Entrepreneurship Challenge League A Regional Second Runner-Up – Concordia University Regional Runner-Up – Ryerson University Regional Champion – Niagara College
League B Regional Second Runner-Up – Loyalist College Regional Runner-Up – Carleton University Regional Champion – University of Windsor
SIFE Green Challenge Regional Runner-Up – Concordia University Regional Champion – Ryerson University Regional Champion – St. Lawrence College
Four provincial champions from Ontario and Quebec competed in the 2010 Student Entrepreneur Regional Competition. Two regional champions were named:
• Greig Perantinos, student at the University of Western Ontario and owner of Cool Moose Creamery • Vincent Cheung, student at the University of Toronto and owner of Shape Collage Inc.
“Year after year our SIFE teams and student entrepreneurs continue to wow us with their determination and dedication at such a young age, explains ACE President, Amy Harder. “We are thrilled to announce our regional champions for Central Canada – although all who competed should be proud of their accomplishments.”
Regional champions will now move on to the national level of competition, taking place this May 10 to 12 at the 2010 ACE National Exposition in Calgary. This will be the first time in the organization’s history that the ACE National Exposition will be moving from Toronto to Calgary.
